Carlos Alcaraz looks for more than an ATP Masters 1000 trophy this week at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. The Spanish is about to return to the Top 2 of the PIF ATP Rankings.

According to the PIF ATP Live Rankings, if the Spanish achieves its first crown in the Principality, it will surpass Alexander Zverev in the world number 2 next Monday. If Alcaraz does not succeed in Montecarlo, it will remain as number 3 in the world.

PIF ATP Live Rankings (only quarterfinalists in Montecarlo)

Player Current points Maximum possible
3) Carlos Alcaraz 6920 7720
8) Álex de Miñaur 3335 4135
13) Arthur son 2820 3620
14) Lorenzo Musetti 2750 3550
16) Stefanos Tsitsipas 2645 3445
17) Grigor Dimitrov 2595 3395
25) Alexei Popyrin 1860 2660
37) Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 1480 2280

Current No. 10: Casper Ruud (eliminated), 3,215 points

Alcaraz could end the week with up to 7,720 points. Zverev, who lost his second round match against Matteo Berrettini, has 7,595 points. Both are far ahead of number 4, Taylor Fritz, who has 5,280 points. Alcaraz became the number 1 of the youngest world in the history of the PIF ATP Rankings (since 1973) on September 12, 2022. Since then, it has remained in the top three and has the opportunity to consolidate its position in Montecarlo.

The 21-year-old is one of the only two players of the PIF ATP Rankings that are still alive at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. Therefore, there are opportunities for players to break through the 10 best.

The current number 10 is Casper Ruud, with 3,215 points. If the number 13, Arthur Fils, reaches the final, will have 3,270 points, sufficient to enter the Top 10. The French would reach 3,620 points and reach the number 7 of the world if he got its first Masters 1000 title.

It All Adds Up

Lorenzo Musetti is another player who could break into the Top 10. The Italian, currently number 14, needs to win the title to achieve it. Musetti, like Fils, can reach number 7. Numbers 16 and 17, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Grigor Dimitrov, would return to Top 10 if they succeeded this week.

The number 25, Alexei Popyrin, won his first 1000 Masters last year in Montreal. If the Australian expands his Masters 1000 collection with another crown, he will rise to number 16. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, finalist of Montecarlo 2022, is three victories to ascend from number 37 to number 20.
