Carlos Alcaraz will return to the competition this Friday at the Internalzionali BNL d’Halia, when he debuts at the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome against Dusan Lajovic. The Spanish, who could not play the Mutua Madrid Open as a result of an injury to the right adductor, has recovered to be able to play in the Italic forum, the last tournament of the European Bolido land tour prior to Roland Garros.

“Madrid is a special tournament for me, but I played two major tournaments before in Montecarlo and Barcelona,” explained No. 3 of the PIF ATP Rankings on Thursday, in the hours before his debut. “It was not an injury that worried me. I am prepared to play and I find a good level. It is my second time here in the Rome tournament and I feel 100%, wanting to debut. The first round of each tournament is never easy: you have to get used to the conditions, to the tournament, to the track .. but I am excited and impatient, wanting to arrive tomorrow.”

With 22 years old, Alcaraz has only participated once in Rome. It was in 2023, and the Murcian said goodbye to his second game, falling against Fabian Marozsan.

“We all think about the results, to win,” said Alcaraz. “I think it’s normal, but right now I try not to focus on the results, win or lose.”

A few weeks ago, Netflix premiered a new docuserie ‘Carlos Alcaraz: my way’. In it, a review of Spanish season is reviewed, teaching many interiorities of the relationship between the player and his team.

“I was nervous before it was released because I didn’t know how people were going to react, whether or not,” Alcaraz confessed. “Most reactions that have come to me have been good. Many players have come to tell me that they loved them and that makes me happy.”

“One thing I learned was not to think about anything that people tell me,” Alcaraz continued, “I try not to think about that. I just want to follow my way, to continue my way, but sometimes my team was rare to follow that path, like enjoying life …”.

Alcaraz has won two titles this season (Róterdam and Montecarlo), in addition to reaching a final (Barcelona). The Spanish will defend in a few weeks the titles of Roland Garros and Wimbledon, which conquered last year.
