Alex de Miñaur came out with clear ideas this Friday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, where in just 44 minutes he assured his presence in the semifinals.
The 26-year-old Australian beat Grigor Dimitrov for an imposing 6-0, 6-0 to sneak into the four best in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament on beaten land for the third time in his career.
De Miñaur will continue the search for his first crown on the surface in front of the three -time Stefanos Tsitsipas or Lorenzo Musetti champion.
“With the problems I had on this surface at the beginning of my career, I didn’t just understand her and how to play well in her,” said Miñaur about her improvement in whipped land. “Over the years, I have been understanding the things I can do well to become a hard rival on this surface. I am happy to be playing better this year.”
“It’s not about hitting hard, powerful shots [en tierra]”Added the Australian. It’s about opening the track, using angles, heights and different speeds. Understanding the balance between being too aggressive and too passive.”
With his victory No. 20 of the season, De Miñaur expanded his advantage as the most victories at the ATP Tour in 2025. The Australian has a 20-6 record this year and his closest persecutors with Carlos Alcaraz and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, with 18 wins, which are also in the semifinals.
