The Argentine is going through his best start of the year at the ATP Tour

Francisco’s biggest objective is becoming an increasingly consistent player for a whole year. If it comes true, you are convinced that you can achieve one of your great dreams: first break into the Top 10 of the PIF ATP Rankings.

“I am missing a little consistency to play a great level throughout the year, that is what I am looking for. And I started 2025 much better in that,” explains the Argentine, who has a record of 13-6 in the year. It is, by far, his best start of the season at the ATP Tour. “Because to be a top 10 or a top 15 you have to try to ‘perform’ throughout the year, not only for some matches.”

“The Top 10 is a dream that they all have when they begin to be professionals,” adds ‘Fran’ in an interview for Atptour.com. “First you see it as a very distant dream. Then it becomes a very close and possible dream or dream. Now I know that it is possible for me, I know it is close, but at the same time there is a lot of work, a lot of work is missing.”

He has come to nine positions (in June 2023) to make that dream come true. And its current box, No. 24 of the PIF ATP Rankings, seems very close to the top ten. Not for him. “There are few steps in the ranking that are missing, but there are many points to win. So I try to take it calm and do not drown my head,” adds the Argentine.

One of the greatest indications that the 24-year-old right-hander has to feel that this group deserves to break this group is precisely its performance before members of the Top 10, against which it has a record of 2-2 in 2025. In addition, a week ago in Indian Wells by beating No. 10 Álex de Miñaur, he reached six victories in his last seven games before this type of players in Masters 1000.

“I always highlight that I have a level to compete everyone from equal to the same. That gives me a lot of confidence,” says the three times ATP Tour champion. “And since I know that I cannot give you an advantage of anything in the physical or mental part, maybe unconsciously I am more concentrated or more focused from minute one to the end.”

His first rival of the Top 10 at the Miami Open presented By Itau would be the Norwegian Casper Ruud in the round of 16.
