A notable number of ATP stars have dedicated their time to charitable causes in 2024, combining their great performances on the court with efforts to give back to their success. Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud have not only focused on winning games this season, but also on raising funds for various charities.

In March, Rublev launched the Andrey Rublev Foundation, with the purpose of helping children with serious illnesses. The foundation’s mission is to raise funds and provide resources that help these children overcome challenges, allowing them to reach their full potential. Rublev’s clothing line, ‘Play for the Kids’, which he launched in December 2023 raised more than $150,000 in its first months, which served as seed funding for the foundation.

In April, Alcaraz followed the steps and promoted the Carlos Alcaraz Garfia Foundation. Like Rublev’s foundation, the Spaniard’s initiative is focused on improving the lives of the most needy children. Based in El Palmar (Murcia), the foundation works to develop important programs that offer support to children, while fostering the opportunity for synergies and innovative solutions. One of the foundation’s first successes were social sports initiatives that reached more than 120 children, promoting equal opportunities for disadvantaged youth.

ā€œI believe that athletes are in a privileged position and have the responsibility to help those who need it, especially by improving their childhood,ā€ said Alcaraz with the launch of his foundation. ā€œWe are starting with small but significant steps to make a difference in the lives of those most in need.ā€

Ruud, currently ranked No. 6 in the PIF ATP Rankings, has been involved with the W Initiative, a humanitarian organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and young people from diverse backgrounds. As a global ambassador from 2022, Ruud participated in the initiative’s annual tennis event in September, which took place in Oslo. The event raised a donation of 1 million Norwegian krone ($95,000) for Furuset IF Tennis, an organization that works in collaboration with Initiative W’s mission to increase opportunities for young people.

ā€œI was already aware of the excellent sporting results here, but after today, I truly understand why,ā€ Ruud said at the time. ā€œThe work they are doing with children and young people is incredible.ā€

In addition, Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter acted as volunteers at the Miami Open Unites held during the Miami Open presented by Itau, joining their teammates Hubert Hurkacz, Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev to collaborate in a local action. They planted seeds to donate food to those most in need.

Hurkacz also donated ā‚¬100 for every ace he hit between September and November to support victims of the devastating floods in Poland, while doubles player Marcus Daniell donated 50% of his prize money in 2024 to charitable causes. Daniell, founder of High Impact Athletes, is committed to directing athletes to more effective charitable causes.

This week, Dominic Thiem won the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award, for his environmental work and work with animals.
