Novak Djokovic failed to lift his 100th crown at the Rolex Shanghai Masters, but he left China with a big haul of points for the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin.

The Serbian star reached the eighth ATP Masters 1000 in ninth position in the Live Race. After reaching the final, he rose to sixth place, which puts him in a position to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals, which will take place from November 10 to 17 in Turin.

Djokovic is 605 points ahead of Alex de Minaur, who is currently ninth and the first player outside the cut line for the season-ending tournament.

At 37 years old, Djokovic is bidding for a place in the Nitto ATP Finals for the seventeenth time in his career. Only Roger Federer (18) and Rafael Nadal (17) have qualified more times than him so far. Of course, the Balkan has the record for the most titles won in the tournament with seven.

Players ranked between 7th and 12th in the Live Race are currently playing this week, split between the BNP Paribas Open in Stockholm (4) and the European Open in Antwerp (2).

Seventh-placed Casper Ruud and eighth-placed Andrey Rublev will try to secure their qualification. Ruud would overtake Djokovic for sixth place if he reaches the final in Stockholm.

Ninth in the table, De Minaur, is 275 points behind Rublev and will try to close the gap in Antwerp. The Australian is seeking the first qualification of his career to the Nitto ATP Finals. He has not competed on the circuit since reaching the quarterfinals of the US Open due to injury.

Tenth-ranked Grigor Dimitrov – champion in 2017 – and eleventh-ranked Tommy Paul play in Stockholm, while No. 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas plays in Antwerp.
