Andy Murray has accepted a wild card to play doubles alongside his brother Jamie Murray at Wimbledon.

The former world number one in the PIF ATP Rankings also remains hopeful of playing singles despite recently undergoing back surgery.

The 37-year-old said on Wednesday: “I feel like I deserve the opportunity to give everything until the last moment to make that decision. It’s complicated and it’s become even more complicated because I want to play at Wimbledon one more time.”

Last week, Murray’s back forced him to retire midway through the first set of his second-round match against Australian Jordan Thompson at Queen’s.

The draw for Wimbledon singles is on Friday and matches begin on Monday. Murray has a 61-13 record at the tournament, having won twice (2013, 2016).

Murray has played doubles at The Championships only twice. In 2005, he and David Sherwood lost in the first round. In 2019 he fell in the second round to Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
