Little by little, Matteo Berrettini is gaining confidence again on the court and this week at the Grand Prix Hassan II he has taken a step forward, appearing this Wednesday in the quarterfinals of an ATP Tour tournament for the first time since February of last year In Acapulco.

Berrettini, who competes in Marrakech with a protected ranking, beat the Spanish Jaume Munar in the second round 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in two hours and 20 minutes, in a match in which he had to work against the struggle of his rival.

Although in his debut on Moroccan clay he beat Alexander Shevchenko with authority 6-2, 6-1 to sign his first ATP Tour victory of the season, he continued his good form against Munar. It is the first time he has won two matches in a row at this level since last Wimbledon.

In search of the semifinals he will face his compatriot Lorenzo Sonego, who carries the No. 4 seed tag and this Wednesday beat Sumit Nagal 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Pavel Kotov also reached the quarterfinals, who resolved his match against Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 7-6(5) and will be the rival of the winner of the last match of the day between the main favorite Laslo Djere and the Italian from from the previous Fabio Fognini.
