The prestigious ATP award honors the veteran MARCA journalist

Joan Solsona has received the Ron Bookman Award for Journalistic Excellence 2024.

Press accreditations add up when you’ve covered Grand Slam tournaments, ATP Masters 1000, Nitto ATP Finals and Davis Cup qualifiers for more than two decades. Now, Joan Solsona, veteran journalist for the Spanish sports newspaper MARCA, can add the Ron Bookman Award for Journalistic Excellence to his collection.
“It is a great honor to receive this recognition. I have to thank all the tennis people who make our job easier as journalists,” said Solsona, who began his career at MARCA in 2000. “I have had the great fortune to cover tennis during the era of Big Fourand I am very excited about the new generation.”
“This year I had the opportunity to interview Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune,” he added. “They represent the present and the future of tennis.”
Solsona has also covered soccer, basketball, handball, swimming and water polo, and was sent to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. However, in tennis he found his true voice as a sports writer.
