Of the last ten triumphs of Camilo Ugo Carabelli at all levels – including the ATP Challenger Tour – nine have been completed in a decisive set. But none of those has been as dramatic and fought as this Tuesday against Nicolás Jarry in the first round of the Movistar Chile Open.
The Argentine has won 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (9) and saving three Match Points to get his fourth victory of the year in main cadres of the ATP Tour. The four have arrived in the last eight days: he achieved three as Lucky Loser at the ATP 500 of Río last week, and is now at the ATP 250 of Santiago.
No. 69 of the world, which is premiering ranking since Monday thanks to its semifinals a few days ago in Brazil, not only traced a 0-1 in sets. He also saved a match point in the tenth game of the third partial, and two more in the Tie-Break in which Jarry had 5/2 advantage with two service shifts.
