This season, Diego Schwartzman has had to learn to live with the previews of tournaments. Without going any further, he has had to play this format in nine scenarios. The last of them is Roland Garros, where he pursues his eleventh presence in the main draw.

For now, the Argentine No. 141 in the PIF ATP Rankings began his path in the run-up to the French Grand Slam with a solid performance against the Austrian Lukas Neumayer, whom he dominated 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 10 minutes.

Since passing the Roland Garros qualifier for the first time ten years ago, Schwartzman has not missed any edition, playing a total of 33 matches with a record of 23-10 and the 2020 semifinals being his best result on the Parisian clay court. (p. before Nadal).

Schwartzman, who advanced to the third round last year (l. to Tsitsipas), awaits Frenchman Quentin Halys in the second round of qualifying, who beat Canadian Alexis Galarneau 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 33 minutes.

For his part, the Spanish Alejandro Moro CaƱas continues to show signs that he has taken a step forward in his career at 23 years old. Although just a month ago he recorded his first ATP Tour victory in Munich (d. Dominic Thiem), he appeared in the Roland Garros preview after winning the title at the ATP Challenger in Rome.

And this Tuesday on Court 5 of the French venue he debuted his participation in the Grand Slam previews with his first victory against the Australian Marc Polmans 6-1, 6-2 in one hour and 12 minutes. The Madrid native now meets with Maxime Janvier, who also beat an Australian, in this case, James Duckworth 6-3, 6-1 in 67 minutes.

RomƔn AndrƩs Burruchaga accompanied his compatriot Schwartzman in the second round of the qualifying phase, after signing a creditable victory against the No. 5 seed Juncheng Shang 6-4, 7-6(5) in two hours and four minutes.

BernabƩ Zapata Miralles brought out his best repertoire to stop the progression of seventh seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli, taking the victory 7-6(1), 6-4 in a match that lasted one hour and 53 minutes on Court 10.

The Spaniard, who is pursuing his fourth consecutive participation at Roland Garros, already knows what it is like to advance to the fourth round. He did it in 2022 (l. with Zverev). Now, to continue growing in Paris, he will have to overcome his next date in the second round of the qualifying round against Francesco Maestrelli, who defeated Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-4.

His compatriot Oriol Roca Batalla could not imitate Zapata, who lost his debut against the Austrian Dennis Novak 6-4, 6-2; nor did Albert Ramos-ViƱolas, the fourth seed in the table and who fell 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 against the Italian Andrea Vavassori.

For his part, Daniel RincĆ³n did ensure his presence in the second round by winning his first Grand Slam match (qualifying or main draw). The world No. 183 defeated Juri Rodionov with sets of 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 to meet Tunisian Aziz Dougaz, world No. 227.
