Carlos Alcaraz will face an unusual situation in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, trying to leave his first mark on one of the most historical tournaments in the calendar. In a gold race written at the vertiginous rhythm, the Principality hosts the only ATP Masters 1000 in which Spanish still does not know the taste of victory.
The Murcia, who barely faces the second participation of his career in the tournament, will debut against the former Italian champion Fabio Fognini or the Argentine Francisco Cerúndo. The second Spanish series could be summoned with Felix Auger-Aliassime in the third round, with Andrey Rublev or Arthur Finals in the quarterfinals and face the challenge of Jack Draper or Casper Ruud in the semifinals. Draper improved until 2-3 the history Lexus ATP Head2head against Alcaraz on the title of the title in Indian Wells a few weeks ago.
The fifth British sower will measure Denis Shapovalov or Marcos Giron in the second round, with a possible duel against Ben Shelton in the third round. Shelton will begin on Montecarlo against the old runner -up Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
The fourth head of the Ruud series reached the final of last year and has won 11 of its 12 ATP Tour titles on whipped land. The Norwegian will face Brandon Nakashima or Roberto Bautista Aguet in the second round.
In the upper part of the painting, the big names ensure an absolute show. Novak Djokovic, the current Stefanos Tsitsipas champion and the main serial head Alexander Zverev will have to dispute a ticket towards the final of the tournament.
The Balkan, twice champion, reached the semifinals of Montecarlo last season and could measure the guest Stan Wawrinka in his first game. The Swiss, ancient No. 3 of the PIF ATP Rankings, must measure Alejandro Tabilo in the first round. Djokovic lands in Montecarlo after reaching the final of Miami and will seek to lift his title No. 100 on the clay of the Principality.
Djokovic could cross with Dimitrov in the third round, and would have the figures of Alex de Miñaur or Daniil Medvedev in a hypothetical quarterfinal crossing.
On the same side of the painting, Tsitsipas will look for his fourth crown in five years in the Principality. The Greek will debut against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Jordan Thompson and could cross with the old Holger Rune runner in the third round. The first Zverev sown in a potential rival for the Hellenic in the quarterfinals.
The German, twice semifinalist in Montecarlo, could face Matteo Berrettini in the second round. Zverev faces a path full of big names, with Lorenzo Musetti as a rival potential in the third round and tsitsipas in the quarterfinals. Djokovic is a possible crossing in the semifinals for Zverev or Tsitsipas.
