Carlos Alcaraz had fun to reach the quarterfinals at the ABN Amro Open in Róterdam. The Spanish, who defeated Andrea Vavassori, will now be measured before his compatriot Pedro Martínez goalkeeper, who surprised Holger Rune. Before that, Alcaraz improved to sign a great encounter, of a very high level.

“I knew I had to improve from the first game,” said No. 3 of the PIF ATP Rankings. “It is never easy to start, and from there you must improve. I was clear, ”added the Spanish. “I had to be focused on my own game, without errors and without mental ups and downs. I wanted to keep the same intensity all the time, and I am happy to have done so. Hopefully for the next round it even better. Let’s try to go for it. ”

Alcaraz, who suffered the first day to defeat Botic Van de Zandschulp, had a day to analyze what had happened and work for the meeting against Italian. And that was exactly what he did.

“What happened in the first round of the tournament was that I had many ups and downs inside the game,” Alcaraz analyzed. “I tried not to happen again today, and that is why I am happy to have achieved it,” added the champion of four Grand Slam titles. “It has been a great day for me. I am enjoying Rotterdam, although I have not been able to see much of the city. We are focused on each game, but I am very happy with the atmosphere of the track. ”

“I didn’t expect to win like this, but it is true that I played really well,” Alcaraz confessed. “I have been very focused on my rival because I know that playing a great level in individuals. The last time we saw each other was very tight. I thought I had to do things well. ”

All that, of course, is due in large part to the good work that his team does, a key piece for the 21 -year -old.

“The work they are doing is very important to me,” said Alcaraz. “The more comfortable I feel outside the track, the better I am inside it. Having my team with me is very important to generate that good atmosphere outside the track. ”

Alcaraz will cross this Friday with Martínez goalkeeper for a place in the Rotterdam semifinals.
