In a tournament where it starts as a man to beat, the South American has the opportunity to remember an increasingly frequent flavor in his career: the champion trophy.
No. 36 of the PIF ATP Rankings managed to catch a game without secrets, beating 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-1 to its compatriot Francisco Comesaña in two hours and 20 minutes of play. Before one of the best known adversaries of the main box, Báez maintained his composure with the marker fully open, signing an impeccable final section to reserve the ticket to the semifinals.
“It has been complicated, because it is always hard to face another Argentine,” said Báez, who improved his history Lexus ATP Head2head to Comesaña, who had already defeated weeks ago on the beaten earth of Santiago. “I am happy with my level, he is also doing a great tennis. I’m glad to be in the next round.”
