Francisco Comesaña’s classification to his first main Masters 1000 team has a lot to do with the first day he played tennis in his life, almost two decades ago.
After the victory of the Argentine 7-6 (4), 7-5 to Japanese Shintaro Mochizuki, in the last round of the ‘qualy’ in the Miami Open presented by Itau, one of those he celebrated in the gallery was Francisco Aran, his childhood friend and who induced him to tennis when they both were about six years.
“I know him since the two or three years, since we were going to the garden of the school.
After several tournaments in New York, they gathered for the first time in Miami to ‘eat’ debuted in this event. Until now, two victories in the same number of matches at the Hard Rock Stadium headquarters. “The person who invited me to play tennis will always be my amulet,” the 24 -year -old right -hander added laughing.
Another reason for joy of Comesaña for his victory on Tuesday was dedicated to his coach Sebastián Gutiérrez on his birthday. “He wanted to give him an extra gift on his 46th birthday.” Now it has a presence in ‘Main Draw’ at ATP 250, ATP 500, ATP Masters 1000 and Grand Slams. Of course, there will not be much time for celebrations.
A few minutes after spending his first ‘qualy’ of Masters 1000, the Argentine became a rival of the Italian Federico Cina, invited by the organization and No. 441 of the PIF ATP Rankings. The winner will collide with the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, head of series No. 14.
“The idea is not to enter with a lot of expectation. “With whom I am in front, I will go out to do my best and to continue enjoying.”
“I have a little nervous for the possibility of playing my first ‘Main Draw’ of Masters 1000. But I am very proud of all the work I have been doing and I want to continue enjoying.”
Did you know what …?
A triumph on Wednesday in Miami would boost it more or less to the position No. 62 of the live ranking. It would be very close to ensuring a new personal record in the PIF ATP Rankings (No. 66).
