Carlos Alcaraz goes for everything, again, in the BNP Paribas Open. The Spanish, who seeks to conquer the Indian Wells trophy three times in a row, began at full speed in the Coachella valley and advanced to R3 with a blunt triumph 6-4 and 6-2 against Quentin Halys.

Alcaraz, again refined since his serve as he has shown in the 2025 season, lost just one point with his first serve in the whole match and sealed without inconvenience a victory after 1 hours and seven minutes of play and stretched his streak to thirteen consecutive victories in the event.

“I was nervous at the beginning, and I had to calm down and be focused to be in control of the game, but I think I did it well,” Alcaraz said. “Here I feel at home, and I love playing here and I feel supported and the court accommodates my game very well,” said the Spanish.

Meanwhile, the Spanish, champion in Róterdam, extended his record at 27-1 against ranked players outside the top 50 on hard court since the beginning of the 2023 season (the only defeat was against No. 74 Van de Zandschulp in R2 of the US Open Open 2024).

No. 3 of the PIF ATP Rankings will now be measured against Denis Shapovalov, who won Adam Walton, from the qualy, by Walton 6-3 6-2. The Spanish leads the lexus ATP Head2head 1-0.

Did you know what …?
Alcaraz, who wants to become the first player born in 1991 or later to repeat three times in an ATP Tour event, has a 17-2 mark in Indian Wells, only lost to Andy Murray in R2 in 2021 and against Rafael Nadal in the semis of 2022.
