Conquer three times the BNP Paribas Open of Indian Wells. This challenge faces, nothing more and nothing less, Carlos Alcaraz in the first ATP Masters 1000 of the season, where he could match Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as the only ones who have achieved that feat in the Coachella Valley.

“I am here to assume that pressure, so to speak,” Alcaraz explained before being released in the tournament. “I will try not to think about it, I will try to enjoy it,” added No. 3 of the PIF ATP Rankings. “It’s something that only two players have achieved in the whole story. Now I just think about enjoying the tournament, as I have always done. Obviously it would be something great to achieve it.”

Alcaraz, who landed in California on Monday night, began his preparation on Tuesday, with a view to that premiere in front of the winner of the match between Pablo Carreño Busta and Quentin Halys, a match from which his first rival will leave towards the defense of the title, which has won the last two years (2023 and 2024).

“I’m going to start training this afternoon,” the Spanish warned. “I am happy to play again here, in the desert,” Alcaraz continued, a lover of Indian Wells. “It is very important for me to have more things to do beyond tennis. They help me turn off my mind. Sports like golf allow me to forget the pressure, and feel great outside the track. Therefore, this tournament is one of my favorites. Because I can play golf a lot, ”added the Murcian, laughing. “In addition, I am very lucky to be with all my people in the tournaments, and that makes me feel at home.”

Alcaraz, in the process of constant improvement, continues to refine its serve, one of the weapons that has worked the most during the preseason, and that gradually finds results in the competition.

“I’m still in it, I’m still improving,” said the Murcian. I feel good with the change, it has been a great improvement in the serve. I need to continue believing in the new serve mechanics. Right now I feel great, I am happy, ”the player closed.

“Tennis is my passion, so I just want to continue enjoying and living this dream,” said Alcaraz. “Over time I have learned that when I enjoy my best version on the track. Sometimes, I think more about the result and that is when I forget the most important thing: show joy. ”
