Carlos Alcaraz intends to continue making history at the BNP Paribas Open, in an edition in which he can match the names of legend in Indian Wells.

2023: Domain in the desert
After being forced to get off the 2023 Australian Open due to an injury and see how Djokovic replaced him in No. 1 of the PIF ATP Rankings, Alcaraz arrived at Indian Wells with a clear mission: recover what was his. The Spanish chained a series of great performances, challenging the complicated wind conditions – already its rivals – to conquer the crown without giving a set.
The road to Alcaraz to his first trophy in Indian Wells was insultingly dominant, but perhaps his triumph was even more in the last round of the tournament. The Murcian won 6-3, 6-2 to Daniil Medvedev, who arrived with a streak of 19 consecutive victories after linking the titles of Róterdam, Doha and Dubai, respectively. With the ATP Masters 1000 Trophy of Miami already in its showcase, achieved a year earlier, Alcaraz who was then 19 years old became the youngest player to have in his possession the double Indian Wells-Miami (Sunshine Double).
“Recover No. 1 is crazy for me,” Alcaraz confessed, after the final. “But especially lifting the trophy here for me means a lot … I love this tournament. I enjoy here and of course I have felt the love of people every day. It means a lot to me. ”

And again, champion
Alcaraz returned to Indian Wells as a defender of the title in search of his first trophy since he managed to win in Wimbledon seven months before. Despite having passed physical problems with the ankle, which made him withdraw in the ATP 500 river two weeks earlier, the world No. 2 did not give symptoms of going through problems and re -was intractable to repeat success in the Californian desert.
Its quarterfinal duel against Alexander Zverev will be remembered both for the curious case with the invasion of low and by the tennis level. After overcoming the scare of swarm-Ya Zverev-Alcaraz resumed his rivalry with Jannik Sinner in the semifinals, where he recovered from a set against the same to match the lexus ATP Head2head at 4-4.
“Winning this tournament means a lot to me, because the week before starting I had many doubts about the ankle,” Alcaraz acknowledged, after overcoming Medvedev in the final to repeat title. “I remember that my first training here was 30 minutes without moving and probably the first training with really good tennis players was very hard for me, because I thought I was not going to be able to play my best level.”
2025: Triplet year?
Alcaraz returns to the desert in 2025 with the possibility of making history. The winner of the last two editions goes for his third trophy in Indian Wells, which could place him at the height of Federer and Djokovic, the only two players who have won three times in a row in this ATP Masters 1000. At 21 years, he successfully defends the trophy would also match him with three glasses next to his compatriot Rafael Nadal.
Alcaraz, which is presented with a record this 11-2 season, will try to get the thorn out of its defeat in the quarterfinals of Doha’s ATP 500 against Jiri Leheckka. The Spanish also gave in the same tie of the Australia Open last January and the fans will be expectant to enjoy a new chapter of the rivalry Lexus ATP Head2head, that the Serbian dominates 5-3, and that he could continue in Indian Wells.
