Jannik Sinner does not want to look back and remains in machine mode of playing tennis, and of winning, and this Thursday he added his third victory in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 against Daniil Medvedev to remain the leader of the group stage by second consecutive year at the Nitto ATP Finals.

The first seed easily defeated the 2020 champion, advancing to the semifinals with a perfect record of 3-0 for the second consecutive year. Medvedev chained three consecutive games in the second set that allowed him to harbor hopes of a comeback, but these were short-lived, as Sinner came back and claimed the victory in 73 minutes.

Sinner, who is bidding to join Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as the only men to win the Australian Open, US Open and Nitto ATP Finals in the same year, will continue his campaign against Group runner-up John Newcombe. While Alexander Zverev currently leads the group with Casper Ruud in second, everything remains to be decided in Friday’s action. Zverev will face Carlos Alcaraz and Ruud will face Rublev.

Thus, Sinner confirmed his place in the semifinals and was finally able to lead his Lexus ATP HeadToHead with Medvedev for the first time in his career, after losing his first six duels.
