Rafael Nadal recently confirmed that he will play again. Another returning sports legend, golfer Tiger Woods, reflected on his friend Nadal at a news conference at the Hero World Challenge on Tuesday.
“I think what Rafa has done is extraordinary. I mean, he won the Australian Open with a broken foot,” Woods said. “The guy is more than tough and more than competitive. And he knows that Father Time is here. Every athlete faces it. And in some sports it happens faster than in others.”
“Unfortunately, like all sports, you can get old. And I don’t want him to leave. I didn’t want to see [Roger Federer]. But that is precisely what happens.”

Woods further explained that fans around the world should not think about the possibility of playing tennis without Nadal, but rather enjoy the Spanish left-hander while he continues to compete.
“I just think we should all enjoy watching him compete,” Woods said. “And watching him play and what he means to the game and what he means to all of us, just seeing the passion of him, how he plays and why he plays.”
