The Internal Bnl d’Italia is a special territory for Alexander Zverev. The Italian tournament has not only seen two titles lift – the most recent last year – but this Sunday was the stage where he signed a new milestone in the ATP Masters 1000: reach 150 victories.

Serial head No. 2 and in force champion in Rome defeated the Lithuanian from the previous phase Vilius Gaubas 6-4, 6-0 in an hour and 25 minutes, expanding his streak in the Italic forum to eight consecutive wins.

Zverev also became the fourth active player with more games won in the tournaments of this category and in the twelfth in total to reach 150.

More victories in the ATP Masters 1000 (active):
Novak Djokovic: 414

Stan Wawrinka: 166

Grigor Dimitrov: 155

Alexander Zverev: 150

The German has not yielded a set on his way to the fourth round of Rome in this edition. While against Gaubas he went from less to more to end up delivering four games, at his premiere in front of the Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli he only let three games escape.

In the round of 16, the requirement bar will notice significantly, since on the other side of the network you will find the head of series No. 13 Arthur Fils, which was able to trace Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 53 minutes.

Despite the little time that the rivalry supports between the old No. 3 of the Tsitsipas world and the young Fils, 20, the Lexus ATP Head2head already has four clashes between the two distributed in the last three seasons.

The Greek had only conceded a part of 0-4 before the same rival at the beginning of the rivalry against Carlos Alcaraz (0-6), Holger Rune (0-5) and Daniil Medvedev, with whom he now maintains a record of 4-10.

“I said on the network that played incredible in the first set,” Fils acknowledged. “I was killing my right, with the reverse, on the Network. Getting very well. I could not do many things, but in the second I began to find the rhythm and the way of fighting, so I am happy to finish strong in the third.”

Since they found themselves in front of Antwerp 2023, they have played at least once per season. They repeated in Basel 2024 and just a month ago in Barcelona 2025. Tsitsipas had not even been able to win a set. But in Rome it just took 29 minutes to add the initial sleeve, which forced Fils to trace.

The Frenchman, No. 14 of the world, managed to change the dynamics of a party that seemed controlled on the Tsitsipas side until 6-2, 4-4. From there, Fils turned his first breakdown option and gave a turn to the meeting. He won eight of the next ten games to advance to fourth round in Rome.

“If you let him play, I think he is one of the best on land,” said the Frenchman. “His right is a huge weapon. I tried to put it under pressure because if you don’t, you’re dead.”
