The biggest names in tennis meet in Berlin.

Roger Federer was in attendance at the Uber Arena on Tuesday to welcome two other former PIF ATP Rankings No. 1s and Laver Cup captains Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe to the German capital.

“The king!” exclaimed Team Europe captain Borg upon seeing the Swiss Federer, who is co-founder of the Laver Cup and champion of the competition in three editions of this team tournament.

“No, you’re the king!” Federer replied to Swedish legend Borg, who will captain Team Europe for the seventh and final time in Berlin.

McEnroe, who is also facing his last adventure as captain this year, received a visit from Federer when he finished playing with his brother and vice-captain of the World Team, Patrick McEnroe.

“Nice surprise, they said there was no one playing!” joked Federer with the McEnroe brothers.

Held for the first time since 2017, the Laver Cup brings together six European ATP Tour stars against six others from the rest of the world. Team Europe has won four of the six editions of the tournament and will include in its ranks such big names as world No. 2 and local favourite Alexander Zverev and No. 3 and newcomer Carlos Alcaraz.

The World Team, which won the last two Laver Cup rounds in London and Vancouver, respectively, will be led in 2024 by three Americans: Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton, as well as Argentina’s Francisco Cerúndolo and Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo.
