Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavic, who started the Gonet Geneva Open as third favorites, did not fail in the final to win the second crown of the season together.
The Salvadoran and the Croatian defeated Lloyd Glasspool and Jean-Julien Rojer in the final of the ATP 250 in Geneva by 7-6(2), 7-5 in one hour and 44 minutes, which consolidates the couple at No. 5 of the PIF ATP Doubles Team Rankings.
Arévalo and Pavic put the finishing touch this Saturday on a week in which they defeated the Brazilians Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo in the first round, Julian Cash and Robert Galloway in the quarterfinals and the main favorites Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski in the semifinals.
This result comes a few days after Arévalo and Pavic reached the final at the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome, where they lost to world No. 1 Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
The Geneva title adds to the one they achieved in their first tournament together this season in Hong Kong.
For their part, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten took the title at the Open Parc in Lyon, after overcoming Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti in the last round 3-6, 7-6(4), 10-8 in a hour and 43 minutes.
For the Finn and the British it is also the second crown of this year, which is added after the title they achieved at the beginning of the clay court tour at the ATP 250 in Marrakech.
Heliovaara and Patten had to knock out two seeded couples on their way to the title. First, in the opening round, they surprised No. 3 Gille and Vliegen, while in the semifinals they knocked out No. 2 Máximo González and Andrés Molteni.
