Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos have established themselves as one of the most reliable pairings on the ATP Tour in recent times. The Spaniard and the Argentine have qualified for the quarter-finals in the last three Grand Slams.

The No. 1s in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings defeated Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti 6-2, 6-2 in just 62 minutes in the third round of the US Open on Sunday.

The victory continues an impeccable tournament by the top favourites, who reached the quarter-finals in Flushing Meadows without having dropped a set along the way and with only 3 hours and 49 minutes in the entire tournament, or what is the same, an average of one hour and 16 minutes per match.

Granollers and Zeballos have established themselves as one of the regular teams in the final rounds of the Grand Slams this season. While they were eliminated in the round of 16 at the Australian Open (l. to Hanfmann/Koepfer), they reached the semi-finals at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

The recent champions of the ATP Masters 1000 in Canada on this American hard-court tour are making it to the US Open quarter-finals for the third time as a team. Granollers and Zeballos achieved this in their first participation together in 2019 (they were finalists), in 2021 and in this edition.

Their quarter-final opponents will be either Australian No. 7 seeds Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson or Portugal’s Nuno Borges and Francisco Cabral.

Did you know that…?
Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos have secured a ticket to the Nitto ATP Finals, after achieving their first-round victory at the US Open. The Spaniard and the Argentinean have qualified for the fifth consecutive year to the tournament that brings together the eight best couples of the season in Turin, from November 10 to 17.
