Nicolas Jarry fought with all his strength to overcome Portuguese Henrique Rocha and the local public on Wednesday at Millennium Estoril Open. The Chilean won 6-7 (13), 6-3, 6-4 after two hours and five minutes at the ATP Challenger Tour 175 event.

Jarry let four set points on a marathon First Set, which lasted 73 minutes, but the seventh head of series was repurchased and took advantage of its powerful service. The 29 -year -old ended the game with 75% of its first service points won, compared to 62% of Rocha, according to Infosys ATP Stats.

The former number 16 of the PIF ATP Rankings will face another Portuguese player, Gastão Elias on Thursday.

Jesper de Jong, on the other hand, gave the surprise of the day in Estoril, eliminating the eighth head of the series, the Brazilian Joao Fonseca, 6-2, 7-5. It is the first defeat of the Brazilian in a Challenger in this season (it now has a record of 10-1).

“I think I did one of my best performances,” said Jong, 24. “I shot and, after winning the first game, I calmed down. I managed to play without making many mistakes.”

In other results of the day, the fifth head of the series, the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic, defeated German Jan-Lennard Struff 6-1, 7-5, while the former world number 31, the Hungarian, Marton Fucsovics, traced to overcome the Italian Giulio Zeppieri 2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
