Taylor Fritz and Coco Gauff scored two prestigious and prestigious victories this Sunday to lead the United States to its second United Cup title in the last three years. They did it this Sunday night in Sydney, beating Poland in the final.

After Gauff won the first match of the series against Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-4 at the Ken Rosewall Arena, Fritz knew how to hold his nerve and handle the pressure to overcome Hubert Hurkacz in a tight match 6- 4, 5-7, 7-6(4).

“It’s incredible. It’s almost more fun to win team tournaments, because you have people to celebrate it with afterwards,” Fritz acknowledged. “Coco made it easy for me as MVP of the team; she helped me a lot in my job and it’s great to get it [el título] for the second time.”

The Americans finished an impeccable tournament, leading Group A that was played in Perth. And both Gauff and Fritz took advantage of the great moment they have from the end of last season, where the former was crowned at the WTA Finals Riyadh and Fritz was a finalist at the Nitto ATP Finals.

On a personal note in this edition of the United Cup, the No. 3 of the PIF WTA Rankings did not give up a single set in the five individual matches she faced in the competition, while Fritz, who is in the highest position of her career As world No. 4, he lost in his debut with Felix Auger-Aliassime, but has won four in a row.

Before Fritz’s victory, Gauff had shown his best version to put the United States ahead against Poland, after beating Iga Swiatek in the first match of the United Cup final this Sunday 6-4, 6- 4.

In an intense and interesting duel between the world No. 2 and No. 3, Gauff repeated the same result she had at the WTA Finals Riyadh to beat the former number one for the second consecutive time.

“I am certain that I am one of the best players in the world and when I play good tennis I am tough to beat,” Gauff confessed. “Today I think I played great tennis. I am happy to have been able to give the point to the American team. “It was a hard day, I’m not going to lie.”

Gauff, little by little, begins to close the gap in the face to face with Swiatek. And the Pole had won the first eleven matches against the American. But after bringing Matt Daly on his bench as a coach after last year’s US Open, Gauff has experienced notable improvement on both his serve and his forehand.

Both blows were instrumental in sealing her two most recent victories against Swiatek in straight sets, both at the WTA Finals and this Sunday in Sydney during the United Cup final.

However, her improvement has been reflected in the first week of competition in 2025, where she has finished undefeated. And Gauff has given her country all the points she has played against Leylah Fernandez (Canada), Donna Vekic (Croatia), Zhang Shuai (China), Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) and Swiatek (Poland).
