Ready to face the final stretch of the season, Carlos Alcaraz returned to training this Wednesday before heading to Paris on Sunday to compete in the Rolex Paris Masters, the last ATP Masters 1000 of the season.
The Spaniard, who has been training indoors these days to acclimatize to the conditions of the indoor fast track in Paris, learned of the draw on Friday. Alcaraz could make his debut against the Chilean Nicolás Jarry, who will make his debut against a player from the qualifying phase.
With his best result in Paris achieved in the quarterfinals of Paris 2022 (lost to Holger Rune), the No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings will seek to improve that performance in a very busy final stretch of the season, in which he will also play the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin and the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, defending the colors of Spain at Rafael Nadal’s farewell.
Alcaraz has a record of 51 wins to 10 losses in a season in which he has won 4 ATP Tour titles, including Roland Garros and Wimbledon, in addition to the silver medal at the Olympic Games.
The Spaniard thus begins the final stretch of his 2024 with the aim of aspiring to win one of the three titles that will be up for grabs, and which he has never been able to achieve before.
And the first stop will be Paris, a city that this year has only given him first-class joy: there he won the Roland Garros title last June and there he also won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in August, after of falling in the decisive match against Novak Djokovic.
Will Alcaraz manage to start his last stretch of the year with a title in Paris-Bercy?
