With less than two months to go until the Nitto ATP Finals, all eyes will be on Asia over the next four weeks as the battle for the final qualifying spots for Turin takes shape in a spectacular tour-level affair.

Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev have already booked their tickets for the prestigious event that will close the season from November 10 to 17, a tournament in which Carlos Alcaraz (6,010 points) is about to follow in their footsteps.

Behind that trio, there are five vacant spots and many stars will be trying to gain ground in Asia to get them. Taylor Fritz (3,890 points) is in fifth place in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin after reaching his first Grand Slam final at the US Open. Now, the American has a strong chance of qualifying for a second time after reaching the semi-finals in 2022.

No. 4 Medvedev (4,420), No. 6 Casper Ruud (3,795) and No. 7 Andrey Rublev (3,480) have all competed in Turin on multiple occasions, with Daniil lifting the trophy in 2020. Medvedev and Rublev will next compete at the ATP 500 in Beijing, whose main draw begins in nine days. No member of the Top 14 in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin is competing in this week’s ATP 250 events in Chengdu and Hangzhou.

Alex de Minaur (3,305) reached Grand Slam quarter-finals at Wimbledon and the US Open in recent months, but has suffered injuries in the final rounds of both majorsThe Australian currently occupies the final qualifying spot at No. 8 and is the only player in the Top 10 of the Live Race To Turin without prior Nitto ATP Finals experience.

De Minaur will compete in the ATP 500 in Tokyo next week alongside Ruud and Fritz. Novak Djokovic (3,260) is just 45 points behind De Minaur in ninth place but will not compete until October, when he will seek his 100th career title at the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai.

Former champion Grigor Dimitrov (2,835), Tommy Paul (2,735), 2019 winner Stefanos Tsitsipas (2,735), Hubert Hurkacz (2,590) and Frances Tiafoe (2,460) all want to snap at De Minaur’s heels. However, they will need strong performances at several tournaments on the Asian swing to take control when the circuit returns to Europe in mid-October.

Behind them, Lorenzo Musetti (2,225) and Holger Rune (2,185) are the only two players in the Top 16 of the Live Race To Turin competing this week. Both will try to lift ATP 250 titles in Chengdu and Hangzhou, respectively.

Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev have already qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals, which are scheduled to take place from 10 to 17 November.
