Alcaraz is already training in Turin

With no time to lose, Carlos Alcaraz got on a plane this Wednesday morning heading to Turin and as soon as he arrived in the city in northern Italy, he began training for two hours to prepare for his second participation in the Nitto ATP Finals. which will be held from next Sunday, November 10 at the Pala Alpitour.

The Spaniard, who arrives at the event as No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings, lost last Thursday to Ugo Humbert at the Rolex Paris Masters and immediately returned to Murcia to rest a few days and begin preparing for the tournament that brings together the eight best of the season.

After not being able to participate in 2022 (the year of his first qualification) as a result of an injury, Alcaraz debuted at the Nitto ATP Finals last season, reaching the semifinals in which he lost to Novak Djokovic, staying one step away from the great end.

On this occasion, Alcaraz arrives in Turin with a record of 52 wins and 11 losses, and having won 4 titles, including two Grand Slam titles at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. In addition, the Murcian won the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, precisely in a final that he lost against Djokovic.

For this reason, Alcaraz is pursuing a trophy at the Nitto ATP Finals that would culminate the best year of his career.

Before finding out on Thursday (from 12:00 noon) the rivals who will accompany him in his group, when the draw is made, the 22-year-old took advantage of Wednesday to set foot on the Pala Alpitour for the first time this season, doing a training session. with the American Andres Martin, No. 439 in the PIF ATP Rankings and sparring at the Nitto ATP Finals.

Without knowing when he will debut in the tournament, Alcaraz still has at least three days (they could be a draw, if he debuts on Monday) to continue getting ready. On the same Thursday, the Spaniard will practice with Alexander Zverev, one of the fittest players in the world and recent champion at the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris.

The last Spaniard to win the Nitto ATP Finals was Álex Corretja in Hanover 1998. Alcaraz follows in the wake of the Barcelonan in a 2024 that will forever remain in the history books, no matter what happens in Turin.
