The Salvadoran Marcelo Arévalo and the Croatian Mate Pavic demolished this Thursday at the BNP Paribas operate the semifinal barrier in 2025. After falling into their first three games in this round in the season, the world No. 1 of the world have advanced to their first match for the championship since they were runner -up in the Nitto ATP Finals 2024.
All thanks to defeating Christian Harrison and Evan King 6-3, 6-4 to achieve their second classification to a 1000 Masters final, and first since last year in Cincinnati when champions finished.
While Arévalo will be playing his fourth final at this level (Canada 2023 also won and was a finalist in Rome 2024), Pavic will be in his twelfth final of Masters 1000 and has now completed the only final that was missing in the category. Only five other players had achieved it: Bob Bryan, Mike Bryan, Max Mirnyi, Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna.
In search of their fifth title together, the American Sebastian Korda and the Australian Jordan Thompson will measure in the final, who traced a set against Fernando Romboli and John-Patrick Smith.
Korda was on the tightrope when the game was at stake, connecting two clean winning rights against Smith’s serve when he lost 7-8 in the super tie-break. Then, they secured the victory 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Korda and Thompson have a 9-1 record in three tournaments as a couple. Last year they won the title ATP Masters 1000 in Madrid.
