Alexander Zverev qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals for the seventh time in his career on Sunday, after making his quarter-final appearance at the US Open with a win over Brandon Nakashima. The season-ending tournament will take place at the Inalpi Arena from November 10-17.
The German has earned a spot at the prestigious season-ending tournament in seven of the last eight editions. He has also claimed the trophy twice at the Nitto ATP Finals, both in 2018 and 2021.
The only two active players to have won the tournament more than once are Novak Djokovic, who holds the record of seven crowns, and Zverev, who in 2018 beat Roger Federer in the semi-finals and Djokovic in the final to claim the title. Only ten players have managed to win the trophy more than once in the history of the tournament (since 1970).
Zverev is the ATP Tour wins leader this season with a total of 56 according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a consistent season, including his sixth ATP Masters 1000 crown in Rome. He also claimed his second Grand Slam final at Roland Garros and another final on home soil at the ATP 500 in Hamburg.
Zverev has a 14-9 record at the Nitto ATP Finals, and in addition to the two titles in 2018 and 2021, he was also a semi-finalist in 2019.
The German is the second player in the singles draw to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals this year, joining Jannik Sinner. Marcelo Arévalo/Mate Pavic and Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos are also qualified in doubles.
