Carlos Alcaraz, who won the silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games at the beginning of the year, met other athletes and Olympic medalists in Beijing on Friday and met the Swede Truls Moregardh, individual and team silver medalist in table tennis , to the French Alexis Lebrun and Felix Lebrun, team bronze medal, and to Simon Gauzy.

The players attended Alcaraz’s opening match against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Spaniard, who was participating in the China Open for the second time, met with the players after his victory in straight sets against the Frenchman. The table tennis stars are in China to play a tournament that will last until October 6.

The Lebrun brothers are friends of Eduoard Roger-Vasselin, who competes in doubles with Santiago González at the China Open. The compatriots watched together the end of the match between Alcaraz and Mpetshi Perricard.

“I have always liked to watch tennis, and my brother (Alexis) and I try to play when we are in Montpellier,” said Felix, No. 5 in the world table tennis rankings.

“It was great to go to the China Open and see the best tennis players and also meet players as different as Alcaraz and (Daniil) Medvedev. Carlos is very fast and dynamic on the court. He is very nice to watch and he is also a good guy. “When we met him we talked a little about the Olympic Games and a little about his game, but it was a pleasure to meet him and it was great to see him play.”

“My experience at the China Open was fantastic, great players, great people, great stadium, fantastic tennis matches, super high quality and activities for fans to come see,” Moregardh said. “There are so many different foods to eat and I really enjoyed my time at the China Open.”

Tournament co-director Lars Graff also expressed his pride in having the medalists at the tournament. “They really enjoyed coming to the China Open and I enjoyed going to the WTT to see how they run a world-class table tennis tournament,” he said.

Alcaraz, seeded second, will face Tallon Griekspoor in his fight for a place in the quarterfinals. Alcaraz leads the Lexus ATP Head2Head series 3-0.
