Alcaraz, Agassi, Del Potro and more stars delight US Open crowd

The main draw action of the tournament begins next Monday

Several US Open champions and some of the American public’s favorite tennis players delighted the crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday at the Stars of the Open, an exhibition event in which players wear microphones and show off their best tricks.

Carlos Alcaraz and Andre Agassi teamed up, but were defeated by another star duo: Novak Djokovic and John McEnroe, who won 10-8. Italians Matteo Berrettini and Jasmine Paolini started the night by defeating Sebastian Korda and Iga Swiatek 11-9.

Juan Martin del Potro, the former world No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings, made a grand return to Arthur Ashe Stadium. The 2009 champion, who had practiced earlier in the day with Djokovic, teamed up with fellow Argentine Gabriela Sabatini to win 11-9 over Andy Roddick and Caroline Wozniacki.

Local favorites Sloane Stephens and Frances Tiafoe closed out the night with a 10-6 victory over actor Boris Kodjoe and Taylor Townsend.
