Four years later, Pablo Carreño Busta smiled again in Paris.

The Spanish reached the second round of Roland Garros on Sunday, defeating 6-2, 7-6 (3), 7-5 to the Argentine Francisco Comesaña to remember his figure in the Grand Slam Galo. An ancient quarterfinalist about the whipped land in Paris, the Asturian appears willing to reverge Laureles in one of the most special stages of his career. If the victories suppose inner confidence, Carreño gave himself a premiere full of motives for optimism.

The Old World Top 10 competes in the Bologna wrapped in a second chance sensation, after leaving behind an injury in the right elbow that struggled its last seasons in the circuit. Now, with the freedom to hit the ball with the strength of yesteryear, the Spanish seeks to give an example of belonging in the Grand Slam.

Carreño has landed in Paris after recovering a forgotten flavor in 2025: continuity in the ATP Tour. After winning a large game in the Australian Open, something unpublished in the last two seasons, Gijón conquered two consecutive tournaments in the ATP Challenger Tour to remember the touch of the victories. Now, the challenge is to resume control in the largest tournaments in the circuit.

After paying without triumphs the European season of whipped land at the ATP Tour level, with exits in the first game in Barcelona, Madrid and Rome, the Asturian has landed in Roland Garros with the rhythm in his hands. If the body has kept him in competition, with margin to accumulate training blocks without pause, the first effort completed in Paris is the best example.

Now, Carreño will seek to confirm the symptoms in a sector full of outstanding names. The Spanish will play the second round in Roland Garros before the winner of the duel that play the head of series No. 15 Frances Tiafoe and Roman Safiullin in the Court Suzanne Longline.

Did you know that …?
Pablo Carreño Busta is one of active Spanish players with more experience in Grand Slam. The Asturian has reached two semifinals in the US Open (2017, 2020), two quarterfinals in Roland Garros (2017, 2020) and has crossed three times to the second week at the Australian Open.
