Pope Leo XIV receives Jannik Sinner in the Vatican
The world No. 1 was invited with his parents and a FITP delegation

Pope Leo XIV received Janik Sinner, his family and the president of the Italian Tennis Federation at a private audience in the Vatican.

Jannik Sinner did not enjoy any day off at the internal in the Bnl d’Italia on Wednesday. The world No. 1 at the PIF ATP Rankings moved to the Vatican, where it was received by Pope Leo XIV.
Sinner, his parents Johann and Siglinde, in addition to his representative Alex Viturt and a delegation of the Tennis Federation of Italy, including President Angelo Binaghi, were part of the people who met Leo XIV, who was elected less than a week ago as the highest authority of the Catholic Church.
At 23, Sinner gave to the Pope, who is defined as a passionate player Amador de Tenis, one of his rackets before they both pose for photographers in front of the Davis Cup trophy, which the Italian conquered with his country both in 2023 and in 2024, in addition to the trophy of Billie Jean King Cup.
“Could you play in Wimbledon?” Pope Leo XIV asked, after receiving one of the world number one rackets.
When papal conclave announced Leo XIV as a new Pope on May 8, the news was screened on the giant screen of the Italic Forum, the headquarters where the ATP Masters 1000 is played on beaten land in Rome.
