Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos are living history of the Magic Fund.
Spanish and Argentine won on Saturday their second title of Mutua Madrid Open, recovering one of the most special thrones in the circuit. The fifth series heads imposed themselves in a vibrant final at the Manolo Santana stadium, defeating 6-4, 6-4 to the main planted Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavic to raise the cup again in the Spanish capital four years later.
In a game of power to power between two of the main couples of the circuit, Granollers and Zeballos found the way to victory with coldness. A first set marked by the aim, determined with just a break in his favor, marked the course to catch the cup. His reaction in the second manga, managing to overcome a 0-3 to his rivals, finished deciding one of the most exciting matches of the year for the couple.
Granollers and Zeballos have managed to find their maximum level after an anomalous beginning of the course. A Spanish chest injury prevented both from competing together until March, delaying the filming of one of the most respected duplications of the locker room. Despite arriving in Madrid with a 4-4 balance in 2025, mutual support has allowed them to recover to play the cup.
“I want to thank Horacio,” Granollers said, excited by the overwhelmed obstacle. “We have been playing together since 2019 and I think we continue to enjoy a lot. This year we have had a complicated start, but I have felt its support from day one and that has also been very important.”
In a European whipped land tour that began winning the ATP 250 of Bucharest, Spanish and Argentine have once again demonstrated their weight in the Magic Box, raising one of the most coveted trophies in the circuit. “Madrid is a city that brings me beautiful memories. Every year my birthday happened here,” Zeballos acknowledged. “Last year we become No. 1 here. I think it is one of the most beautiful cities and that better memories will leave me for the rest of my life.”
The conquest of the Magic Fund was the result of an impeccable participation. In one of the most precise efforts that are remembered in the Spanish capital, Granollers and Zeballos made their way to the trophy without delivering a single manga in a tournament full of talent. The champions defeated the two main couples of the painting, winning in the last two rounds two teams that had touched the glory in the whipped land of Roland Garros.
Granollers and Zeballos imposed their experience as one of the most veteran couples of the locker room. Competing hand in hand for more than five years, with a constant presence in the largest events of the calendar, Marcel and Horacio have managed to knead a collection of 12 doubles crowns as a couple, including eight Trophies ATP Masters 1000. No other active couple holds such a wide collection in tournaments in the golden category of ATP Tour.
In one of the most demanding tournaments in the calendar, Granollers and Zeballos became the fourth couple capable of lifting multiple double crowns in the history of Mutua Madrid Open. Spanish and Argentine took the witness left by Daniel Nestor/Mark Knowles (2002, 2004), Bob Bryan/Mike Bryan (2006-07, 2010-11, 2013) and Jean-Julien Rojer/Horia Tecau (2016, 2019) in Madrid.
