Alexander Zverev knows perfectly every recesses of the Manolo Santana stadium. This Friday, without missing the custom, he found the solution to abandon him with a smile on his face.
The German starts this week as the main head of the Mutua Madrid Open, where its victories in 2018 and 2021 give it special respect in the Spanish capital. The whipped land of the Magic Box has been one of its great shelters on the surface and, in a moment of splendor, Hamburg’s seems willing to take advantage of it.
With a star performance, Zverev managed to overcome 6-2, 6-2 the challenge of Roberto Bautista Aguet, one of the local players most surrounded by the Madrid fans. The German barely needed 70 minutes of play to reach victory, closing the game without a single scratch on his service. This blow, fundamental to lift its two trophies in the city, re -worked perfectly in a day of pure sun.
“It has been a good game, I knew I needed to concentrate on Roberto,” Zverev said. “I was aware of how hard the game would be, so I am very happy with the victory.”
Players with more individual victories at the Mutua Madrid Open
Zverev’s triumph served to strengthen his figure in Mutua Madrid Open, where he occupies a prominent place in the honor painting. The German, which accumulates a 24-5 balance in Madrid, became the fifth player with the most individual victories in the history of the tournament on Friday, only behind the members of the so -called Big 4 – formed by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
“This is my preferred central track. I have only lost twice here in my entire career,” Zverev recalled. “I hope that is still true for the next 10 days and doing a good tennis. If this happens I will be happy.”

The current runner -up of Roland Garros, which already accumulates a streak of five victories on the surface, took speed last week by catching its third BMW Open By Bitpanda title. In Madrid, the challenge of lifting another perfectly known trophy in his showcase awaits.
In a picture where he competes among the main favorites, Zverev will try to approach the decisive rounds with a decided tennis. The German will play the third round against the winner of the duel facing on Friday Alejandro Davidovich Fokina with Portuguese Nuno Borges.
