Nadal is distinguished as a sports icon at the laureus awards

Rafael Nadal has been awarded Monday night in Madrid.

Rafael Nadal has been one of the main protagonists of the latest edition of the Laureus Awards held on Monday in Madrid.
Despite having retired last November after his participation in the Davis Cup in Malaga, former 1 of the PIF ATP Rankings has received recognition of the sports icon.
The 38 -year -old left -handed had already been awarded in these awards. He was cataloged as revelation of the year in 2006, athlete of the year in 2011 and 2021, return of the year in 2014, and also received recognition for the work of its foundation last year.
“The Laureus awards are important to me,” said the Spaniard with his new distinction. “Thanks to the sport I have lived things that I could never have imagined. My team and my family have always supported me in every way and thanks to them I have had a more successful and long race than I could have dreamful.”
In addition to being distinguished, Nadal also delivered the award to the team of the year to Real Madrid, of which he is a fan. The players Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal, as well as President Florentino Pérez were present to claim the Nadal’s hands.
Rafael Nadal won 92 titles during his career (22 in Grand Slams) and added 1,080 victories in the circuit, according to the index of victories/ATP defeats of Infosys. In addition, he spent 209 weeks in No. 1 of the PIF ATP Rankings, the sixth largest amount in the history of the ladder created in 1973.
Other tennis players were present at the gala: Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Paula Badasa, Garbiñe Muguruza, Belinda Bencic, Caroline GarcÃa and Donna Vekic.
Alcaraz was nominated in the male athlete category of the year along with other stars such as the Tadej Pogacar cyclist and the Formula 1 Max Verstappen pilot. The prize, however, was won by the athlete Armand Duplantis.
