The European Open, the Belgium’s largest category tournament, moves to Brussels after the nine editions that hosted Antwerp, as announced by the tournament itself.

From October 12 to 19, the tournament will be played at Ing Arena, the old Palais 12 of the Brussels Expo.

“This new location allows us to take the tournament to a next level, both for players and fans,” said Dick Norman, director of the tournament.

The location of the stadium makes access to both Belgium and abroad access. The Brussels Expo also provides a broader space, which will improve the experience and comfort of all fans.

“Brussels offers the ideal scenario to help the growth of the tournament and become a first level tournament, giving tennis lovers an unforgettable experience,” Norman added.

It All Adds Up

In 2017, the Palais 12 housed a memorable Davis Cup between Belgium and Australia. Steve Darcis won the decisive victory, creating a unique moment. That environment can return this year, where fans expect one more unforgettable experience.

The transfer to Brussels comes at the same time that the European Open, the only ATP 250 Belgium tournament, is already celebrating a decade.

For his part, Geoffroy Bourbon, executive vice president of ATP Europe, points out that “we are excited to see that the European Open enters new chapter in Brussels. A solid base has been built these years and we are grateful to the organization for its dedication to tennis and ATP Tour. The transfer to ING Arena presents a fantastic opportunity to improve the experience of players and fans, and we want to see the development of the tournament in their new home, in the capital of Belgium. ”
