Nicolás Jarry opened the 2025 season with a victory against Mariano Navone this Monday in Brisbane.

Finally there will not be a Chilean duel in the second round of the Brisbane International presented by Evie.
And that Nicolás Jarry fulfilled in his debut in the new season, defeating Mariano Navone this Monday 7-5, 7-6(7) in one hour and 48 minutes.
However, Benjamin Bonzi prevented Alejandro Tabilo, seeded No. 6, from meeting his compatriot in the next tie. The Frenchman from the qualifying phase won 6-7(8), 7-6(5), 6-4 in two hours and 48 minutes.

In addition, No. 2 seed and defending champion Grigor Dimitrov also opened his participation with a solid performance against Yannick Hanfmann 7-6(5), 6-3 in one hour and 47 minutes.
The Bulgarian will now face Australian guest Aleksandar Vukic for a place in the quarterfinals, who defeated David Goffin 6-2, 6-3.
But one of the big victories of the day came at the hands of local Jordan Thompson, who, as the No. 8 seed, came back against the Italian Matteo Berrettini 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours and 14 minutes.
Thompson will have a tough duel in the second round against American Alex Michelsen, who recorded an epic victory in his debut against Christopher O’Connell 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(10).
To close Monday’s spectacular day, Jiri Lehecka closed one of the great victories of the day against last year’s finalist Holger Rune 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 24 minutes.
The Czech, who left out the No. 3 seed, will face the Japanese qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round, who defeated Arthur Rinderknech 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 14 minutes.
Top seed Novak Djokovic has his first singles match scheduled for Tuesday against local guest Rinky Hijikata.
