Carlos Alcaraz is back. This Monday, the Spaniard officially began his preseason at the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia, which is near his home in Palmar, with his team with his sights set on the 2025 season, just around the corner. .
Alcaraz finished the season playing the Davis Cup in Malaga, at Rafael Nadal’s farewell. After Spain lost in the quarterfinals to the Netherlands, the man from Murcia went on vacation with his friends to the Dominican Republic, where he took the opportunity to relax on the beach, going out on a boat or playing golf.
With the disconnection, Alcaraz put an end to a gigantic 2024 in which he added the titles at Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games, in addition to the titles at the ATP Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and in Beijing, where he beat Jannik Sinner in an exciting final.
The Spaniard, who will end the year as No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings, behind Sinner himself and Alexander Zverev, will begin 2025 directly at the Australian Open, a tournament that he has in his sights. If Alcaraz achieved victory in Melbourne, he would close the circle by winning all four Grand Slam trophies, in addition to becoming the youngest to achieve such a feat.
To do this, the 21-year-old has designed a demanding work plan of several weeks until he gets on a plane that takes him to The Antipodes at the beginning of January, where he will face the challenge of dethroning Sinner, current champion of the first major of the course.
Over the next few days, Alcaraz will train at the Ferrero Tennis Academy in Villena accompanied by Flavio Cobolli, world No. 32. In addition, the Spaniard will have the help of Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel López, who has officially joined the Murcian team after ending his professional relationship with Pablo Carreño.
The Spaniard, who finished 2024 with a record of 54 wins and 13 losses, will be at the opening of ‘Los pies en la tierra’ on Friday, an exhibition by the Alcaraz Foundation that seeks to underline the importance of equal opportunities in the childhood covering the life of the tennis player.
