Ruud last qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in 2022, reaching the final of the tournament (lost to Novak Djokovic). The Norwegian remains in a good position to earn a place in the season finale tournament for the third time and can improve his chances with a strong performance in Switzerland.

The Scandinavian is the second seed in Basel and will face Roberto Bautista Agut, recent champion in Antwerp, in the first round. It will be a challenging match for Ruud, dominated by the Spaniard (1-2) in the Lexus ATP Head2Head history.

Rublev is attempting to qualify for the season finale event for the fifth consecutive year. Although he currently occupies the last qualifying spot, Andrey will be looking for a strong performance this week to keep the chasing group, led by De Minaur, at bay.

The Australian has never managed to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals, but could improve his chances of competing at the Inalpi Arena if he breaks into the Vienna draw. De Minaur will open his participation in the tournament against Jan-Lennard Struff.

Another player aiming to make his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals is No. 1 Tommy Paul, who cemented his candidacy by winning the Stockholm title. The American is 485 points behind Rublev for the last qualifying spot, making it vital to complete a great tournament in Vienna. Paul faces a tough challenge in the first round against his compatriot Brandon Nakashima.

No. 11 Grigor Dimitrov, Stockholm finalist and 2017 Nitto ATP Finals champion, will be present in Vienna. Stefanos Tsitsipas, winner of the masters tournament in 2019, appears in the Basel draw.
