The last time Jannik Sinner lost a match at an ATP 500 was in June 2023… and it was by retirement against Alexander Bublik in Halle! Since then, the Italian has won every match he has played in tournaments in this category, accumulating 23 consecutive victories.

This Monday, he added one more match win to his record at the China Open, after beating Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals 6-2, 7-6(6), in one hour and 44 minutes. The No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings is pursuing his fifth crown in Beijing in his fifth consecutive participation in an ATP 500.

Sinner’s last five ATP 500:
Beijing 2023: 5-0

Vienna 2023: 5-0

Rotterdam 2024: 5-0

Halle 2024: 5-0

Beijing 2024: 3-0

“You have to be mentally prepared, so we try to stay in the present. We know what we have achieved this season, which is great for me. But every game we see what we can improve, which is very good,” Sinner said in the courtside interview.

The Italian is confirming this week on the Chinese hard court his great state of confidence, extending his streak of consecutive victories to 14-0. And since he began his path to the title at the ATP Masters 1000 in Cincinnati last August against Alex Michelsen, he has linked the US Open crown (Grand Slam) until reaching the semifinals in Beijing (ATP 500).

Jannik Sinner – 58

Alexander Zverev – 57

Casper Ruud – 48

Carlos Alcaraz – 46
Taylor Fritz – 45

The main favorite has gone from less to more in Beijing. Both in his debut against Nicolás Jarry and in the second round against Roman Safiullin he was forced to recover from a set down.

Ante Lehecka extended his record in the ATP Head2Head to 2-0, since the only precedent in the last ATP Masters 1000 in Indian Wells had also fallen to the Italian’s side in two sets. This time, he wrote a new page of success after picking up two set points in the second set.

After a great first set, in which Sinner dominated, converting two of the three break opportunities he had, Lehecka was close to forcing one more set, when in the tie-break he went 6-4 in his favor. However, the Italian linked four points in a row that gave him a pass to the next round.

Sinner thus booked his ticket to the semifinals No. 32 of his career on the ATP Tour and for the tenth time this season: Australian Open, Rotterdam, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Roland Garros, Halle, Cincinnati, US Open and Beijing.

It is the second time in his career that he has had so many appearances among the top four in a tournament in the same season.<(p>

To try to advance to the final – it would be the seventh of this year – they will have to overcome Buyunchaokete, who for the second consecutive week appears in the ATP Tour semifinals. The local guest defeated No. 4 seed Andrey Rublev 7-5, 6-4 in one hour and 33 minutes.
