Jannik Sinner received the Most Improved Player of the Year award. It is the second 2023 ATP Prize for the Italian, after he won the Fans’ Favorite at the start of the week.
The Italian entered the 2023 season as No. 15 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings, after winning six titles. With the attention that he had raised at 22 years old, Sinner went from less to more in 2023, not only meeting expectations but exceeding them.
He won four titles this year, including his first ATP Masters 1000 crown in Toronto, in addition to reaching the final at the Nitto ATP Finals. He also won the Davis Cup with Italy, climbing to a career-high ranking of world No. 4 and reaching his first Grand Slam semi-finals at Wimbledon.
With a record of 64-15, he set the record for Open Era wins by an Italian player in a single season.

Sinner set his best record against the Top 10 with 13 victories in 2023, including two victories against world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and two against the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz. Before, he had achieved nine wins against Top 10 in the previous three seasons.
“I think, especially in the second half of the year, mentally I was much, much stronger,” Sinner acknowledged. “I didn’t complain much on the track, when things weren’t going well. I think those kinds of things sometimes make a difference…”
“One of the things I can be very happy with is that I played many important games in the big stadiums we have during the year. That is something that I hope can help me in the coming seasons,” he added.
Earlier in the week, Sinner’s coaches — Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi — won Coach of the Year for their work with the Italian.
Matteo Arnaldi, Christopher Eubanks and Ben Shelton were also nominated for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.
