At just 21 years old, Carlos Alcaraz continues to expand his collection of great achievements.
The Spaniard, four-time Grand Slam champion and former No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings, signed another great milestone this Sunday that places him among the great legends of the sport.
Alcaraz added his 200th victory on the circuit in the second round of the China Open by beating Tallon Griekspoor 6-1, 6-2. Alcaraz has only suffered 52 defeats, achieving a 79% victory rate throughout his career.
Among the 29 players who reached No. 1, Alcaraz is the second fastest to reach 200 wins, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. Only John McEnroe had more defeats at the time of signing his 200th victory (200-45).
Balance With 200 Victories – 29 Players Who Reached No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings
Curiously, Alcaraz’s 200th victory has occurred against the same rival – Griekspoor – whom he defeated to sign his 100th victory at Indian Wells 2023.
Just 18 months later, Alcaraz has managed to complete his next hundred. The Spaniard has not stopped his meteoric rise since he surprised the tennis world by becoming the youngest No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings in history at just 19 years old in 2022.
Sinner, current world No. 1 and also present this week in Beijing, accumulated 74 defeats at the time of reaching 200 victories, the same balance that Novak Djokovic and Stefan Edberg had when reaching that number. The Serbian holds the record with 428 weeks at the top of the PIF ATP Rankings.
Alcaraz has a record of 45-9 this season with three titles: Indian Wells, Roland Garros and Wimbledon. The Spaniard will face Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals in Beijing and could meet Sinner in the final of the Chinese ATP 500.
