Rafael Nadal’s return to the ATP Tour is closer and the Spaniard’s roadmap to prepare his return next season at the Brisbane International presented by Evie 2024, which will be held from December 31 to January 7, passed through Kuwait.
Nadal traveled to the Rafa Nadal Academy facilities in Kuwait, which opened in 2020 at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah international Tennis Complex. There he shared training with Arthur Fils, the 19-year-old Frenchman who was a recent finalist in the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by NEOM.
“It’s great to be here in Kuwait to train for a few days. Incredible treatment from everyone. Thank you for everything,” the Spaniard wrote on his official social media accounts.
The Spaniard has sought these days in Kuwait to prepare himself in temperatures and conditions similar to those he will find in a few weeks in the Australian summer.
Nadal, supported by his team, has shared his usual group dynamics on social media, playing Parcheesi with Carlos Moyà, Marc López and his physiotherapist Rafael Maymó.

The Spaniard, who in recent days has sent a message of hope but also of prudence and caution before his return, will compete again for the first time since last January 18, when he did so in the second round of the Australian Open against Mackenzie McDonald.

“I still think about what I said at the last press conference, I still think that I didn’t deserve to end my sports career in a press room. I would like it to end differently, and I have fought and maintained the hope at all times for that to happen. With doubts, with bad moments, very bad ones and with better moments,” Nadal explained a few weeks after returning to Brisbane.
