Rafael Nadal will play his sixth ATP Tour tournament of the season at the Nordea Open in Bastad, which takes place on the Swedish clay from 15 to 21 July.
The former PIF ATP Rankings No. 1, who received one of the tournament’s wild cards, landed in southern Sweden on Wednesday, accompanied by his family.

The Spaniard is part of an impressive line-up at this ATP 250, which will also include other Top 10 figures such as Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud, as well as the Spaniards Roberto Bautista Agut, Roberto Carballés Beana and the surface specialists Mariano Navone, Federico Coria and Cristian GarÃn.
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner was also part of the Bastad draw, but discomfort in his Wimbledon quarter-final forced him to withdraw from the Swedish event.
Nadal, meanwhile, has his sights set on his next challenge, after having spent a few days of intense preparation in Greece, at his academy facilities, alongside Argentine Tomás MartÃn Etcheverry.
The Spaniard will be competing in Bastad for the fourth time in his career. His debut dates back to 2003, when he reached the quarter-finals at the age of 17. A season later, he made it to the quarter-finals again, while in 2005 he claimed the title after beating Tomas Berdych in the final round.
Since then, the Manacor native has not returned to the Swedish clay. He will do so almost 20 years later, with the intention of continuing to add minutes on the same surface on which the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be held.
Nadal will also play both singles and doubles alongside Casper Ruud.
