Tabilo makes history for Chile on the grass of Mallorca

The Chilean wins his second ATP Tour trophy

Alejandro Tabilo’s name has earned a special place in the history of professional tennis. The South American completed a great feat by becoming champion this Saturday of the Mallorca Championships, becoming the first Chilean tennis player capable of lifting a trophy on grass in the Open Era. With a week of splendor on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, on the eve of a Wimbledon where he wants to be the protagonist, he expressed a talent that finds no limits on any surface.

The No. 24 in the PIF ATP Rankings captured a restrained final on the Balearic grass, defeating Austrian Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 to claim the second ATP Tour title of his career. Tabillo has completed a sensational week on the grass of Mallorca, adjusting to the surface conditions immediately. The Chilean, who had adjusted his pace by playing in the Queen’s tournament the previous week, barely gave up a set on the way to the trophy on the Balearic island.
