This Friday the main draw of Wimbledon was drawn, where Carlos Alcaraz already knows the path he must take to defend the crown he won last season in London.

The Spaniard will open his participation in this edition against Estonian qualifier Mark Lajal, while in the second round he could face the winner of the match between Australian Aleksandar Vukic and Austrian Sebastian Ofner. Both have reached the semi-finals in the ATP Tour grass-court tournaments in Eastbourne and Mallorca, respectively.

If he gets through these first two steps, the third round would see him face — according to the logic of the PIF ATP Rankings — the top seed, in this case No. 29 Frances Tiafoe. In the fourth round, he could face No. 16 seed Ugo Humbert.

His hypothetical quarter-final match would be No. 8 Casper Ruud and his biggest challenge would be set for the semi-finals, where the top seed in this edition of Wimbledon and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner would appear.

The Italian will have to open his participation on the London grass against the German Yannick Hanfmann, but in the second round an entertaining duel against his compatriot Matteo Berrettini is foreseen, provided that the Italian defeats the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in his debut.

In the third round, a surface specialist such as No. 27 seed Tallon Griekspoor appears, and in the fourth round, he could meet No. 14 seed Ben Shelton, although that sector also includes players such as Denis Shapovalov and Chilean Nicolás Jarry, who cross paths in the first round.

Sinner’s crossing in the quarterfinals would, hypothetically, be for Daniil Medvedev. Of course, the No. 5 seed will have to avoid big names on his side of the draw like Grigor Dimitrov, a possible opponent in the fourth round, or veterans like Gael Monfils or Stan Wawrinka.

If Alcaraz or Sinner aim to win their second Grand Slam crown of the course, they should overcome No. 2 Novak Djokovic in the last round, if the Serbian manages to reach the title match. Before in the first round he will meet the Czech from the previous round Vit Kopriva, to measure his feelings at the All England Club.

The second round for the Balkan player would be the Spaniard from the qualifier Alejandro Moro Cañas or the British invitee Jacob Fearnley, while in the third round he would play with the No. 30 favorite Tomás Martín Etcheverry.

If we reach the second week at Wimbledon, rackets like those of Holger Rune or Karen Khachanov, seeds No. 15 and No. 21, respectively, could appear in the fourth round. The expected matchup in the quarterfinals would be with No. 7 Hubert Hurkacz and in the semifinals with No. 4 Alexander Zverev.

The German will make his debut against the Spaniard Roberto Carballés Baena. The first favourite who could appear in his path would be the local Jack Draper and in the fourth round his hypothetical match would be the American Taylor Fritz.

He could play No. 6 seed Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals, although Stefanos Tsitsipas is also in the draw.

Everything is ready for 128 players to fight one more edition for the title in London, from July 1 to 14.
